Optical and electronic correlation in Mg-doped nano cadmium sulfide

Nano Cd0.9Mg0.05S was synthesized applying the thermolysis technique in air and under flow of nitrogen. Samples obtained exhibited CdS structure with two phases. Rietveld refinement analysis used to determine different parameters. Analysis UV–Vis absorption spectra disclosed that optical band gap sample prepared N2 is less than corresponding air. The (air) decreased as it doped Mg while increased (N2) sample. photoluminescence (PL) intensities samples were enhanced when they Mg. Moreover, PL intensity further emitted colors (violet, blue green) depended on condition preparation samples. Density functional theory calculation (DFT) applied explain variation upon doping DFT revealed absorption, refractive index, extinction coefficient, dielectric properties photoconductivity response affected by kind defects Mg-doped stoichiometric or non-stoichiometric have a non-magnetic nature.
